Success in all areas of education depends upon children developing a good standard of literacy. In the Early Years it is essential that we build upon children’s attainment and ensure that what we teach is developmentally appropriate for our children.
This course offers the opportunity to explore exactly what we need to do as practitioners to help our children to succeed and enjoy the process of acquiring literacy skills
- To identify the key principles of providing a solid foundation for the teaching of reading and phonics for young learners
- To explore a range of practical strategies to promote learning and development of literacy and phonics
- To reflect on current practice
- To consider future practice and planning
