As our new nursery  has been open for 16 months, we were keen to pause and reflect on our journey so far.   Our management team initially attended Deborah’s  ‘Preparing for Ofsted’ training, which really helped to give us an overview of what to expect from the revised inspection framework.  We then asked Deborah and Denise to come and support us, and the whole team, further by carrying out a mock inspection.

In the run up to the inspection we found having a deadline to work towards really useful in supporting us to evidence our thinking and prioritise our ideas for improvement.  The process brought the whole team together to work towards a shared goal.

During the visit Debs and Denise challenged us with their questioning to articulate our vision and intentions, and as they spent time with us during the learning walk and observing in the rooms they checked out how or if our intentions were being implemented and how they were impacting on the children.  This enabled all of our practitioners to experience the Ofsted evidence gathering process and to feel confident to not only participate in, but to take control of , the inspection and showcase good practice.

The verbal and written feedback we received was really useful to support us in documenting and celebrating our strengths and developing shared priorities for improvement.

We would highly recommended Debs and Denise for their knowledge, expertise and passion!

Anne, Owner - Back to the Garden Childcare

Thank you for the
mock inspection last week and indeed the documents that you have sent through.
All the team at Evergreen found your visit and contributions very helpful. We
have taken on board all of your feedback and we will use this to further
enhance our setting

Evergreen Early Years Lisa

I attended the loose parts course to help me with new ideas and inspiration to take back to the nursery I manage. I would highly recommend the course to anyone who is looking to add loose parts or more loose parts into their setting.

Ninas Nursery Manager

“Whilst I have a free five minutes I wanted to take the opportunity to email you about the course which my team did this week, which was maths on a shoe string.

I am exceptionally happy with the course and my team found
it extremely useful. I loved the delivery of it, and how interactive it was for
the team. The resources which she brought were fantastic and I think it really
helped to support the team as they could physically see them and also she
allowed them to have a play with them.

I was blown away by the course and even at the end when we
was left with a goodie bag full of different bits, that to me was just

Since completing the course my team has been inspired. They
have gone out of their way to create maths bags and even in the toddler room an
area full of loose parts maths resources.

I just wanted to say from me a huge thank you. Our jobs as managers are never easy and things like this that support the team really do make a big difference.”

Zoe Hill Nursery Manager, Echoes Nursery

In October 2018 we held a joint training session with staff from the nursery and parents. The training was Building a Strong Foundation for Literacy and Phonics the trainer was Cath Larkin. This is the first time I had planned joint training with staff and parents, it was well attended and the session went really well. Cath used first hand experiences throughout her working career as examples and set the scene really well with the roots of literacy. The session was informative , fun with lots of practical ideas for both staff and parents to do with the children. Please see below comments from parents who attended.

1/ I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the
opportunity to attend the foundation of literacy and phonics course last
Saturday, It was great to see majority of the nursery staff attending this
course and how enthusiastic they all were especially for a Saturday morning! The
trainer was brilliant and made the course very interesting and easy to
understand, I thought she was great! I have come away from the course feeling I
have learnt quite a lot actually and I am not pushing phonics onto my boy right
now but I am using phonics when I can and have a better understanding of what
it is and how to sound the words out. I noticed the following Monday when
dropping off my son that some staff were already using some things discussed in
the course to engage the children, I noticed one staff member  was getting started with creating books
with/for the children which was very nice to see.

2/ Many thanks for organising this training for the parents as well as the staff. It was my first experience and I am glad that I took part. I found it very interesting, educational and interactive. The trainer had loads of experiences and helped me to understand how to start helping my daughter to develop her literacy skills. For me it was even hard to choose the right book and just few examples showed me the directions that I need to take. The idea of creating a book using the child’s pictures and words was amazing; I am definitely going to do it with my daughter the course helped me to feel even more confident about my plans that I have already chosen for my daughters early learning. The YouTube video examples were another gateway for me to educate myself regarding the subject.

Colette Holland - The Christie Day Nursery Manager

“Just finished some training on the Tremendous two year olds. My trainer was Mary and I thoroughly enjoyed the training session she has just given! I’m new to working with older children as I have been working with babies until late and I feel this training has been so insightful! Really looking forward to putting my training into practice with all the new information and ideas I have learnt! Couldn’t fault Mary! She was fantastic!”

Niamh Redmond

We’d just like to say a huge Thank You to Mary from Quality 4 Early Years, who provided us with the course Lets Get Physical, it was highly enjoyable and got everyone thinking and debating, we loved the practical ideas and activities and can not wait to use them with our children. On a personal note I would like to say the whole process from enquiring, booking and taking part was easy and we are really looking forward to the Maths Workshop

Melanie Kirk - Georgie Porgies

‘’We are having a whole team meeting on Monday night where we will address your recommendations and work together on completing them. Individual teams have already started working on their room action plans and I can see such focus and determination in them.

All in all, the whole experience has been 100% invaluable. You have made the team feel at ease from start to finish, whilst giving them a taste of what it would be like during ‘the real thing’. It has given them confidence in answering questions about their practice, strengthened their understanding of what is required to be outstanding, but most importantly, helped us all refocus our thoughts.

I cannot thank you enough for the overall service you have provided, your professionalism, advice and friendly attitude.’’

Ivana Beckett - St Vincents Nursery Trafford

We originally contacted Quality 4 Early Years to set up mock inspections for our nurseries and as part of this process we have also used a number of their training courses.

Both Deborah and Denise have been very easy to work with. They are professional, never pushy and always keen to ensure their offering is tailored to what we want. They also have specialists in a number of areas, so have always been able to arrange the  training we have needed. The content has been spot on and done in a way that involves the audience. Staff feedback from the sessions has been consistently excellent and there is now a keenness to attend all out of hours courses they provide. We have been impressed with supporting information provided, including document and process templates, all of which have helped us to implement new initiatives quickly and with clear purpose. The training is having a positive effect on our practise and we are able to measure the impact which is essential for our pursuit of continuous improvement,

The mini-inspections have been incredibly valuable to us. We’ve had five so far; all conducted in a consistent and thorough way. Every team has enjoyed them and Deborah and Denise seem to have a way of providing feedback in such a constructive way that the recipient can’t wait to get on with the resulting improvement actions.

There is a company-wide enthusiasm towards working with Quality 4 Early Years which is having a positive impact on both the children in our care and our employees. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Nicky MacGill - Fisherfield Childcare

We will work towards achieving the set targets/recommendations as soon as and will touch base with regards to upcoming training, consultation and evaluation.

Thank you again, we look forward to working alongside yourself for further nursery success/development”

Farah Ali - Manager, Tarbiyah Nurseries Manchester

“I found the course very helpful and think it’s so important to have a good basic knowledge of what our clients are going to be trying to achieve. I always find these courses good as well on a personal note as a Dad, so a huge thank you to you all. I was also impressed with the way both Deborah and Denise worked together giving the training and as a company we are very pleased to be working with you and hope to continue our relationship long into the future.”

Stephen Thompstone Managing Director Essentials For Education Ltd

“As an outstanding childcare provider who strongly believes in continuous professional development for my team, I planned a conference with several workshops in July 2011 to meet the needs of all 65 staff. I wanted an exceptional outside training provider who had the knowledge, skills and creativity to deliver a bespoke training session. Who better to ask than Quality 4 Early Years? The staff thoroughly enjoyed the training; here are a few of their comments:

“The most useful part was acting out sessions, as it builds confidence for practitioners to act out plays in front of children”.

“Thank you very much, Absolutely Fantastic!”

“I loved everything about the session, being able to look at all the different resources, acting out stories; I have lots of ideas to take back with me!”

“Lots of props and objects to spark imagination, thoroughly enjoyed the session.”

“Acting out the sessions showed me just how much learning the children will benefit from a dance session.”

“I found the training really useful and enjoyable and gained lots of ideas.”

“I fully enjoyed the course, it helped me realise that it’s not just books that help tell a story.”

All the training evaluations were extremely positive; staff thought the session was excellent, enjoyable and fun! The trainers were informative tailoring the session to our individual needs ensuring the aims and objectives were thoroughly met. The resources used were of excellent quality and the expertise, professionalism and knowledge of the trainers shone through along with their passion for the Early Years, a great motivation for any staff team.”

Imelda Mihell Owner - Tiddlywinks Day Nurseries Manchester

“Having been the Manager of Christie Day Nursery in Manchester for 33 years, I have had many opportunities to share training experiences with the team at Quality 4 Early Years. I have used their services for in-house staff training and also joined shared training sessions offered at off-site venues. It was wonderful to work with a company who will deliver training tailored to my settings needs and I look forward to using their service again as it provides excellent staff training.”

Heather Milliard Christie Day Nursery Manager Manchester

“We have enjoyed some excellent and really thought-provoking training from Quality4EarlyYears over the last few years.

We even invited them to carry out a mock-inspection for us this year, to help highlight any areas for us to work on. We found this both useful and extremely effective. We have always found Debbie and Denise to be extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We look forward to continuing our relationship with them in the future.”

Roisin Moriarty Nursery Owner - Oakfield Nursery School Altrincham

“Stockport Local Authority is committed to providing the highest quality of information, advice
and training to local early years providers to support them in meeting the requirements of the EYFS and Ofsted frameworks.

The Early Years Improvement Team has recently worked in partnership with Quality 4 Early Years to help in achieving this. Denise and her team have provided detailed training sessions and support materials on ‘Supporting the Performance Management Process’ and more recently ‘Understanding the Prevent Duty and British Values in Early Years’.

The feedback from Childminders, Leaders and Managers and staff following their attendance has been excellent.”

Helen Grimsditch EYFS Lead Consultant Stockport Local Authority

“My staff team and I have attended numerous training courses with Quality 4 Early Years all within different areas of Early Years. From the point of first contact they were very informative and very helpful. We chose our courses based on areas of improvement identified by myself as the manager and from our previous Ofsted inspection. After discussing our setting needs, Quality 4 Early Years were able to tailor the training to what we needed taking into account what we wanted to achieve as a team.

All the courses were informative, enjoyable and very useful. The ideas that were shared were fantastic and suitable for settings working on a budget, and the resources recommended were of good quality.

Mary, Denise and Nicola who delivered the various training to us were great at keeping my team focused and involved throughout the sessions and took the time to listen to what we as a setting currently have in place, and at the same time making it fun! We can clearly see they too have a passion for Early Years in they way they discuss their areas of expertise.

The impact the training has had on my setting shone through in our recent Ofsted inspection (March 2015) when we achieved a “Good” across all areas. The inspector commented on the confidence of my staff team and the quality of the provision we were providing for our children whom they could see were making good progress across the 7 areas of learning.

We cant thank them enough for their support and ideas and I have no hesitation in recommending Quality 4 Early Years to any Early Years professional, as quality training is what they do best…they certainly worked for us!”

Kim Dewar Nursery Manager - Lollipop Private Day Nursery Tameside

“I cannot express enough how helpful and approachable and knowledgeable these trainers are, they provided advice, feedback and fantastic resources for my setting to help our Pre-School prepare for our first Ofsted.

Without the mini inspection we would not of been graded good from in Ofsted who visited our setting in June 2015. We cannot wait to take part in more training with Quality for Early Years.”

Wendy Bailey Manager - Rainbow Kabin Pre-School Oldham

“The feedback from the mini inspection was very informative and provided a much clearer view of the issues that need to be prioritised. We were provided with some great ideas and I now feel much more confident that we can achieve our goal.

It definitely served its purpose and worth every penny. A massive thank you for all your help, being a new manager is a challenge in itself but I now feel so much better about what needs to be done, you have helped me to prioritise my work load and I do believe we can improve our setting and achieve our desired goal.”

Megan McRoy Nursery Manager - Oaklands Nursery Manchester

“We had our Ofsted Inspection yesterday (Feb 2017) and I am pleased to say we received an Outstanding grade in all 4 areas, many thanks for all the brilliant training you have delivered during the past 3 years it obviously hasn’t gone to waste.

Sally Goodwin Nursery Manager - Dryden Street Nursery Manchester

“We first met with Quality 4 Early Years in September 2016 with the view to extending our own training programme, we found them to be professional, enthusiastic and passionate about Early Years and high quality training for childcare professionals.

Since that first meeting we have built a strong working relationship and they have supported us in our development and enabled us to extend our training programme.

The Quality 4 Early Years team are professional and helpful, communication is always clear and the response to queries is always speedy. The courses delivered are well organised and well delivered. Trainers arrive in good time and bring with them all the equipment they need for their sessions (which makes life so much easier). The standard of training is exceptional, trainers are very knowledgeable, and courses are delivered in a warm and friendly manner, which encourages participation and discussion. Resources are included in the cost of the course and are of high quality and relevant to the course content, tasks during courses are well thought out, well managed and encourage each participant to join in.

To date course feedback has been excellent and courses have been really well received. I have myself, attended a number of the courses Quality 4 Early Years have run on our behalf, they are high energy, lots of discussion and involvement from participants. The bonus for me is that the evaluations are collated and any future training needs of participants highlighted.

Staff from our own centre have attended and enjoyed training and this is starting to have a positive impact on daily roles within the centre, both in our day-care provision and wider services.”

Sue McDonald EYQ Training coordinator The Wirral

“We have used the 1:1 consultation service with Denise from Quality 4 Early Years several times now. Each time we have found their advice and support to be outstanding. Denise has supported us to make positive changes to the learning environment, has supported the management team in implementing rigorous self-evaluation and supported us with our Quality Assurance Scheme, e- quality counts. This has helped us to drive forward targeted improvements that greatly improve outcomes for children and families that attend our setting.”
